Northumbrian Fly Fishing casting pool
An area funds grant was awarded to local businessman Kevin Dawson of Northumbrian Fly Fishing, in order to enable him to develop the resources available for public events.
The grant contributed towards the purchase of equipment, including a unique inflatable casting pool which is used for demonstrations at shows and events throughout Northumberland and further afield. This is the only one of its kind in the country.
Kevin said: "Through the support given to me by the NNPA, I have been able to put a new dimension into my business... children and adults alike enjoyed the pool."

Additional grnat support was given in 2009 to develop the educational offer of Northumbrian Fly Fishing. A project has been developed - 'Salmon in the Classroom' - which allows local school children to learn about the life cycle of the salmon and the freshawater river environment, by watching young salmon develop through the life cycle before being released back into the wild. This project has proven to be extremeley popular and a great way for the children to learn about such an important National Park habitat.
The grant contributed towards the purchase of additional equipment to develop thi sproject further, including computer and camera equipment to accurately display images of the developing fish.
