Meet at Camien Café, Rochester; NY 829981 before driving between sites (own transport) An afternoon in Redesdale.

Enjoy a cup of tea before walking to the nearby Roman fort of Bremenium built almost 2000 years ago by the Governor of Britain, Julius Agricola.

We then drive to the church of St Francis at Byrness to look at the stained glass window commemorating the 64 men, women and children who died during the construction of Catcleugh reservoir at the end of the 19th century. Then to the reservoir itself and the Black House, enjoy a guided tour of the last family home, which housed workers building the reservoir followed by a pleasant walk through woodland up to the dam, passing some remarkable Victorian engineering on the way.
